Desire Resort and Spa, Riviera Maya, Mexico

Desire Resort & Spa, also known as Desire Cancun or Desire Riviera Maya, is an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. It is a beautiful resort, located on the beach, for couples only. A small, intimate resort, with less than 125 rooms, Desire Cancun offers luxury accommodations, a number of dining options, and activities to keep you busy day and night.

Desire Cancun is located in a secluded area, and has it's own private beach. The resort also offers a clothing optional pool and rooftop Jacuzzi.

Desire Cancun is located just 20 minutes away from Cancun airport, on the Mayan Coast of Mexico. It is close to the town of Caracol, and just north of Puerto Morales.

There are a number of options to get to the resort. Pre-arranged transfers cost approximately $35.00 per person, and can be booked when you make your vacation reservation. Taxi service is also available, and the price should be negotiated before you leave the airport. If you'd rather drive, car rental services are available at the airport.

Desire Resort & Spa is a couples-only resort. It attracts upscale, liberal-minded adults from their early 20s up into their 70s. The majority of couples are between 30 and 55. Some couples simply enjoy the clothing-optional facilities, while others like the open-mindedness of the resort. There are sexual undertones for some of the activities, such as the theme nights.

Note: Depending on the guests on property, you may see provocative behavior in the rooftop Jacuzzi or on the daybeds. However, public sexual activity is not condoned by the property management.

Since Desire Resort & Spa is an all-inclusive resort, just about everything you could possibly wanted is included in one upfront price:

Rooms & Suite categories at Desire Cancun are either classified as Gardenview or Oceanview. Gardenview rooms have a view of the grounds, and are located close to the lobby and fitness areas. The Oceanview rooms & suites have a view of the ocean and the main pool areas. If you intend to spend your time at the beach, then Oceanview would be more practical than Gardenview.

Unlike most resorts, the rooms and suites at Desire Cancun are not of the "cookie-cutter" variety. This means that although they contain the same amenities, the floor plans differ.

Regardless of which room you are assigned, you will find the following included:

• King or Queen size beds
• Air conditioning, plus a ceiling fan
• Satellite television
• CD Player/Alarm clock
• Safety deposit box
• Bathroom, with a shower
• Telephone
• Blow dryer
• Iron & ironing board
• Mini-bar stocked with water, beer and soft drinks
• Balcony or Terrace

Suites have all of the above, in addition to a Jacuzzi large enough to hold 4 people, plus bathrobes, and a bottle of sparkling wine waiting for you upon arrival.

Desire Cancun Resort & Spa offers 4 restaurants, plus in-room dining, and dining by the ocean. The restaurants include

• El Arrecife - the main dining venue. Breakfast buffets, and themed dinners
• Il Piacere - Offering continental cuisine every evening
• Tentazione - Located near the main pull, this restaurant is open for lunch each day, and dinner on occasional evenings
• Suki - An upscale, Asian restaurant requiring elegant attire.

In-room dining and dinners by the ocean require reservations, plus an additional charge.

The resort also offers drinks at 6 bars throughout the property. These include the Melange Bar, the Nude Jacuzzi Lounge Bar, the Il Piacere Cocktail Bar, the Tentazione Bar, the Beach Bar, and the Disco bar. Drinks are available 24 hours a day at the Melange Bar, and a limited menu is available there from 11:00 pm until 4:00 am.

The beach runs the length of the property, and has soft sand. Lounge chairs and day beds are placed strategically along its length, so you are never too close to anyone else. The beach is clothing-optional, so you can wear a suit, or not.

Non-motorized water sports are included in the price of your vacation. Enjoy water kayaks, windsurfing, Hobie cats and sunfish sailing.

There are two pools. The largest, or main pool, offers water volleyball and water polo. Like the beach, the main pool is clothing optional. The second pool is located close to the lobby. It is smaller, and a swimsuit is required.

On top of the disco is a rooftop Jacuzzi. Here, you'll find a large Jacuzzi, a bar, and a number of daybeds.

There are plenty of activities to keep you busy at Desire Cancun. There is a fully equipped gym, which offers yoga classes, exercise machines, and a sauna and steam room. Basketball, tennis, ping pong, board games, and activities put together by the staff will round out your day.

Note: Theme nights are subject to change without notice. Ask your travel agent before you go, so you'll have the correct attire for the parties.

• Monday - Hall of Fame. Dress as your favorite sports star or cheerleader
• Tuesday - Heaven and Hell. Wear red or white, and dress as an angel, devil, or anything in between!
• Wednesday - The Candles Night
• Thursday - Emergency 69. Dress as the naughtiest cop, nurse, doctor, EMT, firefighter or other person you'd call in case of an emergency
• Friday - Heels and Deals. Wear your fanciest while dressing as a mobster, cabaret singer, pimp, or lady of the evening
• Saturday - Safari. Beach party night - Welcome or Farewell party
• Sunday - Riders. Western or biker, as long as it's leather
